Scenery

Free chat overlays for OBS

Your live chat on screen, styled like the rest of your stream. Twitch and Kick chat connect with just your channel name, with no login and no permissions. YouTube chat needs only your @handle and appears by itself when you go live.

What you can change

  • Message style: cards, bubbles or plain lines
  • How many messages show, and whether they fade after a while
  • Twitch and Kick emotes, plus BTTV, FFZ and 7TV on Twitch
  • Name colors and role icons for mods, VIPs and subscribers
  • Hide bots and chat commands like !discord (Twitch and Kick)

In every style

One in each of the 14 styles, and each style has a whole matching set. Pick one to open it in the editor.

Add it to OBS in two steps

  1. 1
Open one above and change anything: the words, colors, fonts and size. Add your name and channels once under Your stream and they fill in by themselves.
  2. 2
Click Add to OBS and drag the button onto your OBS preview. OBS adds it as a browser source at the right size.

Not using OBS, or dragging doesn’t work? The setup guide covers adding it by hand.

Questions

Do I need to log in or give permissions?
No. Twitch and Kick chat are read the way a logged-out viewer reads them, and YouTube chat comes from YouTube’s own live chat page for your channel.
How does the YouTube chat work?
OBS opens YouTube’s live chat for your channel and Scenery’s style is laid over it. Before you go live it waits on an empty page and switches over once the stream starts.
Can I hide bots like Nightbot?
Yes, on Twitch and Kick. StreamElements, Nightbot, Streamlabs, Moobot, Fossabot and Botrix are hidden to start with, and you can add anyone else.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every template is free to use and change, with no account, no watermark and nothing to install. Your settings live in the overlay’s own link.
Does it work outside OBS?
Yes. It’s a web page, so it works in any app with a browser source: Streamlabs Desktop, Meld, XSplit and others. Add a browser source with the link and the size the editor shows.
